An important book for kids as they are learning language. I got it for my four year old niece and she now makes it a habit of saying "yes" instead of "yeah." It seems insignificant, but is really charming and nice to hear.

Very good learning tool

I purchased the Munroe Leaf series on manners as a tool for teaching foster children acceptable behavior. I remember the books from my childhood and as a child I loved the pictures and the no-nonsense lessons. I have found that the children in my care also have loved these books, and we use them as tools to overcome some behavior that is not acceptable in our home, or in society. I think all children would benefit from, and learn from these fun little books.

If your children aren't saying things like ain't, gimmee, etc. stay away!

I really wanted to like this book, but I don't. He is writing to teach children not to say words like "ain't" which I would like to think most people don't say. He has a point with the word "gimmee" but it's pretty much the only one-- I made the mistake of reading it and my daughter never said that and now she knows the word.

The rest of the book has simple conjugations-- I ran, he ran, we ran, I run, etc. that are not such an issue.

The book we need is a book modeling interactions between people saying please and thank you, not a book instructing kids not to say "ain't".

His other book, How to Behave and Why, is better, but still has that instructional feel which may not be the best way to get a message across.

Very well written book

This is the first edition of the book, closely modeled after the Hem/Onc syllabus at Harvard Medical School. The authors have done a phenomenal job for a first edition. The book is small, nicely organized, the writing is excellent, and it makes for easy reading (sufficient detail, not overwhelming but not glossing over important points either). My guess is this is one of those books you read once and remember the content years later. We've used it for our Hem/Onc class, and my classmates and I were very impressed. Hem/Onc is no joke, and could easily get out of hand. This book was instrumental in my solid understanding of the foundations.

My only complaint would be against some of the pictures (not the pathology pics, but the illustrations of concepts). Some of the illustrations aren't very intuitive, and the labeling isn't sufficient. Moreover, all images can use more elaboration, rather that just saying "refer to text".

Overall, a very solid book. Can't go wrong with it.

Best Ever Pre-read for the class

I was taking a hematology class for my CLS (major, the professor was known to be hard, I bought this book in the summer and learned all the charts in it (the book is small and a fast read, it tell you was you need to know for the test). I highly recommend this as a pre-read, it help you pick out what is important in lecture and the think hematology book.

Great Text. Hematology is a very complicated study. This book presents information in a clear and easily understandable
manner. Great for learning, review, and teaching.
It has many illustrations, diagram and pictures.
I highly recommend this book.
